Another Goal in the Process of Making!

This year I decided to make the goal of going to...

Five New Temples this year! one of them being.... the Salt Lake Temple... Yes I have lived in the Salt Lake Valley my whole life and have never been to the Salt Lake Temple! Well this year that is going to change!!!

Temple #1: Idaho Falls Temple

--The Rexburg Temple is currently closed for a couple of weeks due to cleaning and so a group of us from my Relief Society went to the Idaho Falls Temple! It was beautiful and wonderful!! I'm so happy I took the time to go! It was a great way to start my morning and the rest of the day was wonderful... if you want to know why the rest of my day was great look at this website:

I'm sure there are many who have this same goal, and in years past I've attempted to do it and I never but this is going to be the year!! I want to read a book a month- so 12 books this year.

For the month of January, my choice of reading was,

"The List" By Melanie Jacobsen

I got it for Christmas and I really loved it! It's a quick read and pulls you in from start to finish! I would suggest this book to all Chick Flick book lovers!! This book made me want to get a summer job in California and learn how to surf! ....Maybe I will.... :)

My Next Read: The Wedding Letters By: Jason Wright (The Sequel to The Wednesday Letters)... I think quite appropriate for the month of Love... February!

Well..... I DO!!!

today as I was talking to Old Testament I heard "He Sent His Son," I couldn't help but smile really big when I heard this and I think a lot of people thought I was smiling very cheesy at them.... As I came out of Old Testament, the bells were then playing "I Believe in Christ."

I just love BYU Idaho... if you didn't already know this by now!! I can't believe I'm going to be graduating in July!! I'm starting to get everything in order with my classes to get my last semester ready! While here I'm just enjoying every minute that comes my way!.... except we are still lacking in snow here!!! It better not be a late Winter and snow all through my last Summer here!!
.... I wonder if they can install some bells at the West Jordan City Hall and play hymns on them every hour...hmmm

Rush Hour... On Campus!

Today while walking through campus, I decided that walking through campus is like driving a car...
Strange comparison? yes. but very true!
You have the "slow drivers" who always seem to be in your way when you are in a hurry to get to your next class and they are taking their time, not paying attention to anyone around and blocking the line of traffic.
You have the "speed drivers," whom you need to quickly dodge or else you will get run over.
You have the "texting/talking on the phone" drivers who you need to watch out when going by them because they aren't paying attention... we need to get them break lights and blinkers for their book bags.
When walking through busy times on campus, it is very wise to have good merging skills so you can get in the flow of moving people, and you have of course you have the people who will be pleasant and let you merge... then there's the ones who can't possibly let anyone in because then they won't get to class on time if you get in front them!
Unfortunately on campus there are the rare occasion of people who find their shoes fascinating and will find themselves in a close head on collision..... or actually crash into someone. I do enjoy my shoes but I find it so much more exciting to try and get other people to smile back at me!
... kind of a random thought I had today...

Today is finally SNOWED! it was very short lived but I loved every minute of it! I went to a wonderful devotional today with President and Sister Clark speaking and I came outside to find my wonderful Winter Wonderland! It was a good busy day... that I started at 4:45 AM so I could get all my homework done!

Senior Year!

Well here I am at BYU Idaho! I came here yesterday and I'm super excited to be back!
Today was spent buying books (lots of books), getting organized for school, and RELAXING before I start my busy schedule!

Here's what my schedule is looking like for this coming semester:

Monday-Wednesday-Friday
9:00-10:00 Leisure in Society
10:15-11:15 Dance History
11:30-12:30 Intro to Interior Design
12:45-1:45 Clog Tech 2

Tuesday-Thursday
8:00-9:30 Money Management
9:45-11:15 Clothing Construction 1
12:45-1:45 Old Testament

Right now it's 18 credits and I'm really looking forward to each of these classes! I'm preparing to audition for Collegiate World and that will put my credits to 21! I'm going to be one busy school girl!

I'll be teaching Country Dancing again this semester and I can't wait to get back to Country Dancing again!

I have great roommates and I'm looking forward to a fun semester with them, and I'm excited to meet my new ward and Bishop!

Since coming home from Jacob Lake, my family has kept me busy going to different activities, and my first one was going to my very first BYU basketball game! I must say, I am sold on BYU Basketball! I had a blast!

It was fun seeing the players who I've heard about on the radio and from my family actually playing! I'm planning on going to one more game before I head back to school!

Although we lost by three, it was still a fun game!

You know the saying, "Time flies when you are having fun?" Well here at Jacob Lake, you live it completely!
I'm having such a wonderful time and working like crazy and playing hard. I'll start each Monday excited to start a fresh week and then the next thing I know I'm greeting the weekend and trying to remember all that I did that week!

Made it through the Labor Day weekend

It was INSANE!! On Friday I was put on the counter to work and I ended up moving into the dining room because every table was full and they needed me to help. I only had three tables the whole evening but each of them were very enjoyable. One of the tables was a table of Irishmen and they were the nicest people ever (and also ordered the most drinks ever too). They ordered three bottles of wine and eight bottles of beer. After I finished their ticket and they paid, I went back to the counter to help clean, by then it was about an hour past closing time.

They continued to ask Aubrey (another waitress) for more beer and I told her no more but she was too scared to say no so I had to go and tell them we wouldn't be selling them anymore more. Thankfully they are generally happy people and the beer made them happier so they just kept laughing and went and bought their own beer in the store and came back to the table and drank it. I told them when we started to vacuum we were going to kick them out, it was a nice feeling to kick them out after three hours of having them their. But they were a very fun table to serve.

That day I made 150.00 in tips, it was a great day!

A Few Semester Favorites

Well another semester has come and gone! I have officially finished my third year in college! Spring Semesters are so great here at BYU Idaho! I always look forward to Spring here, it's my favorite time of year here!

Here's a quick view of my semester!
I started off the semester with celebrating my 21st birthday with my roommate Carrie. Her birthday is the day after mine. We had a good time celebrating and did whatever we wanted to because it was our birthday! She is going on a mission to New Mexico in October and is going to do GREAT!!! I will miss her greatly!
I finally hiked "R" mountain and despite the weather it was a glorious hike! I felt proud to be living in Rexburg and hiking the history "R" hill... I mean mountain!

For most those who know me, everyone knows I LOVE dresses... I especially love summer dresses! I think there were only 3 days out of the whole semester I didn't wear a dress.
I had wonderful roommates! I am thankful for the opportunity I had to live with them this semester! They each taught me so much!
BIGGEST WINNER!!!! Here is my good looking trainer Brett, who was constantly singing during out work outs! Biggest Winner wouldn't have been the same without him!
Talon Allen, when Talon was training my voice/yell could be heard across the street! Oh Talon you are so wonderful... need I say more!
Now this Lady, her name is Christine and she is positively wonderful and stuck with me until the very end! I love her so much! I am so thankful to have her friendship, she was such an example to me! Did I mention she lost 22 pounds and won the award for most pounds lost for women... yeah she's on my team!
Here's the whole gang! We had a good time together!

One of my highlights of the semester was serving as one of the Relief Society Presidents for my ward! Such a blessing in my life, and these ladies were such a blessing and help this semester! I am so thankful to have them with me this semester in my presidency! Here is the one and only Bishop Hegsted... yes I know he's extremely tall! I love Bishop Hegsted! He was so much fun to work with this semester, he even "invited" both Relief Societies over for a sleepover in his backyard! He is such a kind, hard working leader and I am so thankful to him for everything!

Now this gorgeous woman is Mandy (she's Canadian) and she was the other Relief Society President and we had an absolutely thrilling time together! I am really going to miss her! She is graduating and is going to go out into the world and start her new adventures! This semester wouldn't have been the same without her!
Throughout the whole semester, there was this group of people that I got to be with every Monday (and multiple other days throughout the week)! The brothers we had this semester were probably my favorite thus far since being in college, we had a lot of fun together! Most of the FHE Mondays were spent laughing and playing and it was the best! I am really going to miss this group!

So the semester is over and it's time to go home. My finals are finished, my bags are packed, white glove is done, and now it's time to say goodbye! I learned a lot this semester and made so many different friends!

My next adventure ahead is going to back at my wonderful Jacob Lake! :) :)

Then I'll come back as a Senior in College... weird....

Like Father Like Daughter...

Throughout my whole life, whenever my Daddy was doing deep cleaning in the house (mainly the carpets), I always knew he was going to have everyone come around and admire his dirty water that he produced from cleaning!

Now that I'm older, I always find myself checking and seeing how dirty the water is after I do a deep cleaning job and I always feel accomplished and I know that I would make my Daddy proud!

Hike "R" Mountain--Check!

As my graduation time nears faster than I can imagine, (I'll be graduating with my Bachelor's in July 2012) I've started to put together a "Bucket List" of all the things I would like to do before I graduate next year. Things such as:

Go to Rigby Lake
Go to Cocoa Bean
Ice Caves
Float the Snake River (some of it... it's a BIG river)
Run in the Teton Dam Marathon
Visit the Teton Dam and Memorial Museum
Live on College Avenue (My sister lived there and I really liked it there... and it's close to my buildings on campus!)
Go to the Idaho Falls Zoo
Go to the Idaho Falls Temple
Run in the Midnight 5K
Do the Judd's Challenge... with a friend

I know there's a few more... I just always forget to write them down... well that's going to change now... every time I think of something I'm going to add it here so I will remember. After this semester I will have two semesters left... CRAZY!!!

Well this last weekend I was able to check something off my list... Hike the one and only "R" pile of dirt... I mean Mountain! In my dictionary it is far from a mountain, seeing as I grew up by the most beautiful mountains in Utah. For the last few weekends, my roommates and I kept planning to go but it kept raining because Rexburg is still in Spring mode. But this last weekend we decided rain or shine we were going to do it.... it rained...
We got a good group together to hike it with us. We had all six roommates, our awesome FHE brother Jeff, Barbara ( a friend of Dawn's), and Kelly (a friend of Carrie's). I was super excited to go on this hike, I pulled out all my gear from the Grand Canyon: my Chacos, CamelPak, Leg warmers, Grand Canyon sweater, Kaibab Hat, and Camera... my roommates think I'm a little obsessed with the Grand Canyon I have no idea why...

One of the first caves we saw, Carrie and I decided if we got stranded on the pile of dirt, I mean mountain we would sleep in this cave!

On the way up a few of us stopped to take pictures, I was quite surprised at how many beautiful caves and flowers were on the way up. It was awesome!Me, Grace and Carrie ( I would like to mention that this was Grace's very first hike (Boston City Girl) and she did an Awesome Job... she survived!)

The hike wasn't too hard, there were a few steeper pathways but nothing too terrible. I loved looking back on the view and seeing the flat farmlands, they were beautiful!

My love for South-Eastern Idaho runs in my blood from my Grandpa and Grandma May! I love Idaho!!

I Conquered the Tower!!!!

This semester I am taking an Experiential Education class for my Rec Management Cluster and I am absolutely LOVING this class!! I didn't really know what to expect from this class, all I knew was it was a fun class. My teacher Brother Wood is awesome, I had him as a teacher last semester and loved him so I was looking forward to learning more from him!
In this class, you learn team building activities, leadership, trust, and anything that is related to Rec Management. A typical in class day is a presentation given by one of the students and then an activity to help relate what we learned to real life experiences. If we finish early Brother Wood will teach us through stories of his own and most of them have you laughing the whole time!
The Tower! Yes it's true, I conquered it!
On most Thursdays we have class up at the School's Rope Course. Before this semester I have only every seen the Course when I was with my sister Bekah and she was doing projects involving the course, but I had no idea what you do at the Course. The course offers different activities that teach you team work and unity. The first day we went to the course we did an activity where we had to climb a wall and everyone on our team had to get over and we weren't allowed to talk. This helped us learn trust, unity, working hard to complete a goal, and also pushing yourself to do harder things you've never done before. Another activity we had done before is standing on a thick cord and lean against someone to reach the end of the rope and having to rely on that person's strength and your strength to get across. This taught trust but also learning how to hold your own load so that someone else doesn't have to hold it.

Well finally after half of the semester of being to windy and cold, we FINALLY earned our chance to do the swing and the TOWER!!

I did the swing first, and how it works was I had to wear a harness around my hips and I climbed up a ladder and was attached to a cord that connected to another thingy and then something else... long story short I was pulled up 30 feet in the air. Today's obstacles were based on Challenge by Choice so if I didn't want to go up the whole 30 feet I didn't have to, but I wanted to go all the way. When I reached 30 feet, I let go of a rope and swung down. It was AWESOME!!! I would love to do it again!

I wasn't planning on doing the Tower because by the time I could have class was almost over but one of the workers told me to get tied up so I could go. As I started up it wasn't too difficult, there were a few parts that I really had to think out but it wasn't hard at all. After about 8 minutes I realized I was almost to the very top and all I had to was climb on to the top platform. The problem being... I was under the platform! It took a lot of faith and trust not only in myself but also to the girl who was holding my rope so I would fall. My fingers were cold, the wind was blowing everywhere and my legs were shaking but I was DETERMINED to get up there, I wasn't going to stop after being so close to the top! Well after much thinking and pushing and trying different ways I finally got to the top! Janet (a girl from the class) made it up there shortly after I did and we did a victory dance up there! I want to say the tower is 50 feet high but I could be wrong! It was an incredible experience sliding down seeing how far I had come and realizing that I was able to do it!

Remember You're a Hintze!

This last weekend I went home for a three day weekend for Memorial Day. My family took our traditional trip to visit my Grandpa and now my Grandma's grave. I love going there because there are loads of Hintze's buried there! Hintze isn't a very common last name but we are all over Holladay!!
Eli had some fun with the flag they put on Grandpa's grave! He loves Memorial Day too!Afterwards we went and visited "Hintze Dr" and the house where my Great Great Grandpa and his family first lived when they came to Utah from Denmark. I wish I could live on Hintze Dr but one: It's expensive and two: Holladay is even more expensive!
We're Hintze's and Proud Of It!!!!

It was fun seeing the house imagining what it might have been like living back then with my Grandpa, wondering if he ever wondered how much his life has left a legacy for the Hintze Family today! I wish the house was still in our family but Grandpa Ferdinand sold it so he could afford to go on a mission. It's a cute little house!
This past month after taking time to help with my Grandma's funeral and going through her history and looking at pictures then coming to the place where it started, I'm so thankful for the choices my Great Great Grandfather Ferdinand made in becoming a Latter Day Saint and coming to Utah to serve the Lord!

I'm Glad She Winked!

Viola Faye Blevens Hintze "I'm Glad I Winked" Born January 25, 1922, she quietly passed away, surrounded by her family, May 18, 2011 due to causes incident to age. Mother's parents were Elbert Blevens and Evva Abbott. When she was born they were living on a homestead on the "day lands" south of Lamar, Colorado where she started her education in a one room country school house and later received an Associates Degree at a Junior College in Lamar. While working as a theater cashier, Mother noticed a "good looking stranger" passing by and she winked at him. She later married that stranger, Alan Sears Hintze, February 14, 1943 in Colorado Springs, CO; marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple May, 1945. They initially settled in Taylorsville, Utah but due to Daddy's work they also lived in Schenectady, NY, Hamilton, OH, Cleveland, OH, and Germantown, MD. Everywhere they lived Mother and Daddy made wonderful friends they will always treasure. When Mother became a member of the LDS Church, she embraced it completely. The rest of her life was spent serving others in the Primary, MIA, Relief Society and as an ordinance worker in the Washington DC Temple. One of her fondest memories was teaching the youth of the Cleveland Ohio Stake to ballroom dance. Mother never met a stranger. Mother and Daddy opened their home to literally hundreds of people who needed a place to stay so they could attend the DC Temple. Mother's children are: Jan (Wendy), St. Marys, PA; Helen (David) Harlow, Provo, UT; Frank (Marla), West Jordan, UT; and Olia (Bill) Shearer, Chino Valley, AZ. Mother loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our warmest appreciation to the staff at Alta Ridge Assisted Living, South Jordan and Millcreek Home Health and Hospice. Christie, and so many others, thank you for everything. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain Shadows 7th Ward, 7925 South 2700 West. Viewings will be held Friday, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park, 4670 S. Highland Dr.

Grandma I know you are so happy to be with Grandpa again and all of your family!! I love you and I know I'll see you again!! Thanks for the stories, support in my dancing, and love!!

One Year Older and Wiser too!!!

ATTENTION: This post is EXTREMELY LONG... but it doesn't matter because it's my birthday!

I had a marvelous birthday! Since being in college, I've been blessed with wonderful roommates who will make sure I have a good birthday and they always make it very memorable!

Well this birthday was FANTASTIC! I started my day at 5:00 AM getting ready to go to the Temple with my ward! When I woke up, I found my door cover with hearts my roommates put on for me...

And a wonderful like Love Note from them! As I walked through my apartment I found more.... in the bathroom!

There was a sign on the door, can you read what it says?

Here's a closer picture...When I opened the shower door there were over 100 water balloons there! This was more like Payback because about a month ago I threw Water Balloons at my roommate Carrie while she was taking a shower, so I guess I deserve this! I've never showered with water balloons... quite the experience!

The day before my birthday, my friend Kayla brought me these beautiful flowers!
In the living room I found our apartment's birthday celebration hats and

the living room was decorated in African Looking faces, something like that

My roommate Hailee made me a fun card, and my parents sent me a birthday card and an I-Tunes Gift Card! It's always fun to get mail on your birthday!
So the evening of my birthday I had Country Dancing and I'm an instructor so I asked my roommates to come along for my birthday... little did I know there was a whole lot more in store for me!
After the hour instruction the dancing began and I found a few of my friends that I dance with every week. After about three dances, I got asked by a few new people that I hadn't ever met and I was excited to dance with some new people! Well I started to notice something, as soon as I finished one dance, another man would pop up right for the next one... and my roommates were acting very very strange and I knew something was up! So while I was out on the dance floor I saw them talking to different guys then walking away. Well the guys they talked to would come ask me!! So finally after the 10th guy in a row I asked him what was going on. He wasn't suppose to tell me but I got it out of him! My wonderful wonderful roommates were trying to get me to dance with TWENTY-ONE different guys for my 21st Birthday!
Aren't my roommates so clever! I thought they were! After I caught on to their little game, I would just go to them and ask who's next and sure enough another man would pop up and take me on the dance floor! I've never felt so popular!
By the 16th dance I was starting to get tired and I could barely dance but I made it!!

I DANCED WITH TWENTY ONE GUYS FOR MY TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY! I think that a pretty good way to start off my 21st year in life!!

(above) I would like to point out my new dress I bought at Deseret Industries that I got for a Discount (Thank You Daddy) and the total of the dress was 4.50! Also please notice my cute cowboy boots that I got for my 19th Birthday!!

It was a lot of fun!! I would like to Thank my Wonderful Roommates for making that night at Country Dancing like None other before!!!

For my 21st Birthday, I had the opportunity to share my celebrations with my roommate Carrie, her birthday is on May 5 (I'm claiming that whole day older than her!) She is a wonderful roommate and we have a lot of fun together!! I'm so thankful I have her in my life! We made sure that we took time to Celebrate the Day we were born!!

We started our celebration by going to my ALL TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN THE BURG!!! FONGS!!!

So to end the evening we to Twizzle-Berry a new Frozen Yogurt place in Town. When we got there we were trying to decide what to get and right next to the Menu was a Sign that said, "If it's your birthday celebrate with us by getting a FREE 12 oz Frozen Yogurt! We were super Excited! So we got our Frozen Yogurt and I drenched my in Granola, Strawberries and Blackberries! I was in Heaven!!! It was a wonderful birthday!! I'd like to Thank the Birthday Committee and their President for wishing me a Happy Birthday through the day and my family for calling me to Wish me a Happy Birthday, and my friends who wrote on my Facebook wall and texted me and my roommates for making it a memorable day!!!

Little Fluff Balls of Joy

On Saturday afternoon my roommates came home with a box full of little fluff balls. Three little chicks that were four days old! I was fascinated! I was raised in the city and never spent much time on a farm except when we went to Tico's farm and all I really remember about his farm was the cool horses he let me ride, the mean goats, and the cow they named Dinner. My roommate Dawn brought the chicks to take to Preschool for the kids to look at but we had to keep them at our place for the weekend! Hailee decided to name the chicks Appetizer, Dinner, and Nugget... pretty fitting for chickens I think!

I probably spent more than half of my weekend holding these little chicks!

I couldn't really think about them on Sunday Evening when we had chicken and potatoes for dinner....we left them in the other room because it just didn't seem right to eat their Long Lost Aunt in front of them, the poor things!

On Monday morning they left us to go spend time with the little Preschool kids, it was a sad farewell knowing the next time I would probably see them would be on my plate... oh dear...

You want to know what I love about my BYU Idaho?

Okay I'll tell you!

I love that I can ask my Experiential Education Professor, Brother Wood, for a copy of a General Authority talk that he quoted in class, I love that we start class with a prayer, I love that we relate the Gospel to our Education and how it can benefit us for the future, I love that we have Devotional EVERY TUESDAY, I love when the teachers bear their testimony during class, I love that we have a temple right by campus and I could go on and on and on but that would take to long and I have homework to do!

But something that MUST MUST MUST be announced is...

My big sister Sarah GRADUATED WITH HER MASTERS DEGREE TODAY!!!!!!! Yes, she's that cool!!

Congratulations Sarah, you are an amazing example to me!.... I think you should take yourself to China or something cool like that to celebrate!! I LOVE YOU SUGAR!

--Homemade meals!

--Sleepovers with my little sister Dinah (One night in a fort in our family room)... with the Dog sleeping between us... Spoiled little Animal

--Saturday morning conference session snuggling with Elijah in a hammock... Bliss!

--Watching the Saturday afternoon session looking for my friends in the choir from BYU IDAHO!!!!!

--Girl's night during Priesthood session playing with Benjamin and holding Grace for hours
------Along with tying quilts, eating chocolate strawberries and watching Tangled

--homework...

--The most random snow storm ever!... I might add the Rexburg didn't get any snow this weekend!

--Pancake Blintzes (My new favorite breakfast!)...topped with my Mother's Homemade Strawberry Jam

--Holding two babies at a time... me just being selfish toward my siblings!

--Gathering around the television to watch conference with my family :)

--Trying to keep the Benjamin and the babies quiet during the sessions

The Magic of a Pair of Shoes!

At first glance, these may just look like an old pair of shoes, nothing much. Old and worn down... But a few years ago they were apart of the Magic of my Senior year in High School.... these were my Madrigal Pizza Shoes!
They went with me to my very first Christmas Madrigal Gig, and then to each of the 80+ Gigs singing to Little kids at Elementary schools, Ward Parties, Nursing Homes, Business Parties, Hospitals, Lion House, Church Office Buildings, and all the way leading up to our Choir Christmas Concert!

Some days we were driving in blizzards to get to our Gigs (Knowing very well that Angels were watching over us as we quickly drove there), other days we had seven performances in a row, each performance fifteen minutes apart, some people we sang to hard of hearing and had poor eye sight but the Spirit of Christmas touched their heart.
The best performances were to the elementary school kids all over the Salt Lake Valley who looked forward to the West Jordan Madrigals every year. There excitement for Christmas increased our own energy every time we sang!
Through each of these performance all 28 of us came to love each other very much and we loved singing together everyday! Through each of these performance were these shoes completely our outfits making us look good!
The Author of this Magic was the Wonderful Kelly DeHaan. He was the one who insisted on having these shoes (Though he was not to one dancing on the stage in them!) He was the one who brought the real Magic to the wonderful Choir!
These shoes were with me at my very last concert as a Madrigal as I cried and was dragged off stage as the new Madrigals were brought on stage (worst moment of being a Madrigal)
After three years at trying to preserve these wonderful shoes... I think it's time to put them away. The sole is now split and the heel is completely destroyed... it's really a miracle they've lasted this long!
I once heard a quote that said, "Cinderella is proof that shoes can change your life," I understand that now :) These shoes were apart my life that changed me for the better and it was the best year of high school experience!

Now I need to go buy some new Black Pizza Shoes... Forever Young here I come!

We had a beautiful snow fall last night and it's still snowing!!

I love how fresh everything looks after a long glorious snow!

I love Rexburg Winter's, they make me so happy!

Along with loving Rexburg Winter's.... I love Monday holiday's and short weeks at school... we should have short weeks every week!!! I had an absolutely perfect weekend with my family!! Lots of baby time... I was in heaven!!

DAY 14: ATONEMENT

I never really understood the Atonement until I was older, but today I am so thankful for the Atonement and rely on Christ's LOVE, help and guidance through my everyday help. Right now in one of my classes we are learning about the Character of Christ, and we read a talk by Elder Bednar called, "The Character of Christ," and it is now one of my favorite talks ever. It says that if it weren't for His character there would be no atonement. Because of Christ's INFINITE LOVE for us, we are able to have someone who understands EVERYTHING we go through. He experienced everything, and in His time of agony in the Garden, his thoughts weren't on Himself, but we as Children of God were going through His thoughts as He suffered every trial, loss, heartache, and yet every joy, and uplifting moment we have. His character defines perfection and that's why we can never fully comprehend the Atonement, we just have to trust in Christ and believe that He can lift our burden and stand by our side every step of the way through life.

For it is expedient that an atonement should be made; for according to the great plan of the Eternal God there must be an atonement made, or else all mankind must unavoidably perish; yea, all are hardened; yea, all are fallen and are lost, and must perish except it be through the atonement which it is expedient should be made. --Alma 34:9

That through his atonement, and by obedience to the principles of the gospel, mankind might be saved.--D&C 138:4

We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.--Third Article of Faith

I've really enjoyed Valentine's Day this year, taking a different perspective on what LOVE really is. I have been so blessed to have so much LOVE in my life. From my parents, to my siblings, then extended family, school, roommates, church leaders, teachers, talents, education, and life in general.... and the reason we are capable of having this LOVE is because it is God's LOVE for us that makes this life possible for us.
I hope that everyone (if there is anyone who reads my blog) enjoyed the 14 DAY OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST LOVE STORIES as much as I did. Obviously I didn't get them all because there are so many, but I think that the ones I chose define LOVE in their own way. Thank goodness there's not just one kind of love!!

DAY 13: Joseph and Emma

The story of Joseph and Emma is a wonderful example of LOVE, loyalty, trust, devotion, faith, and pushing forward through trials. Joseph needed Emma, he relied on her for support, and Emma's undying faith for her husband pushed him to move forward.

In the Church's Version of the Joseph Smith Story, I absolutely LOVE how they show the love they had for each other. Their selflessness towards each other and towards the people they associated with. Being the wife of Joseph Smith, Emma had eyes watching her constantly and she was by her husband's side through everything, even when she couldn't be near him due to persecution. I love how in the movie they showed how much he loved her, and respected her as a woman.

I love D&C 25, the section that was given to Emma. If you look closely you can find each of the Young Women values in there. Emma was called an Elect Lady, she was a choice spirit to be the wife of the Prophet Joseph Smith and I look up to her example so much!

DAY 12: Pride and Prejudice

Jane Austen's Timeless Story that has been wrapped around the heart's of so many people (mainly women!) I have seen so many different versions of this story and I love them all... but the ALL TIME FAVORITE is the six hour version with Colin Firth. In my family, well between my mother and sisters and myself, we believe Colin Firth to be the real and only Mr. Darcy, the other "Mr. Darcy's" are simply pretending to be him. I love every minute of the Six Hour version. It's all so wonderful and I love to see how Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's relationship grow and then fall in love!

I love love LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Colin Firth.... yes yes I do!

DAY 11: Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea

Oh how I love the story of Anne Shirley! While I was preparing for the blog post I was looking through some YouTube videos of Anne and Gilbert Love Story and I've decided that I'm going to watch this movie this weekend (except the third one... that was doesn't count because it doesn't even follow the books! and I don't like!) I love the story, it is one of my favorites! I read the book Anne of Green Gables and I loved it, I have yet to read the rest of them. Anne captures the heart of everyone she meets. From the people of Avonlea, to the uptight people in Kingsport!

Matthew is immediately smitten with Anne the minute he meets her. Matthew treated Anne like she was a Queen and the daughter he never had. Especially when he gets her a dress... with puffed sleeves... when you see her excitement over the dress, you want to get your own dress so you can say "Puff Sleeves" like Anne does. Anne loves Matthew and up until the day he dies they have a very special relationship.Marilla is a little bit more rough than Matthew is and it takes some time for her to accept Anne into the family, but Anne is able to win over her heart.
Then there is Diana, Anne's Bosom Friend. I always wanted to have a Bosom friendship like Anne and Diana's. They are complete opposites yet they fit together so well. Anne dreams of changing the world, and Diana dreams of finding her prince charming, but they are together through it all.

Then there's Gilbert.... oh Gilbert... the name just gives me butterflies! Gilbert is everything a girl could want, yet Anne takes FOREVER to realize she wants him! He's handsome, a gentleman, Anne's best friend, and basically wonderful!
They start off their friendship on not very good terms, but you can tell by the way he looks at her that he's just head over hills for her, but Anne won't let any kind of romance get in the way of her dreams and that's what draws Gilbert to Anne so much. She fascinates him!

Finally after Anne moves away to teach school for a year (where we meet the handsome Martin Harris and Emiline) and almost loses Gilbert, she realizes how much she loves him and can't dare to lose him! It's an absolutely wonderful story and it's made for all ages! Anne does so many silly things and every girl wants to be Anne Shirley with her vibrant red hair and personality!

Day 9: While You Were Sleeping

In my opinion, this is probably one of the funniest chick flicks and the best quoted movie, full of so many laugh out loud moments! Lucy works at a train station and everyday at the same time the man of her dreams comes through... but there's one problem... he doesn't know that she's the woman of his dreams! On Christmas day, Lucy gets talked into working and little does she know that this day will change her life forever!

She gets stuck in a love triangle with the man of her dreams... who is now in a coma... and his family thinks they are engaged... and Lucy starts falling for the brother Jack.... I mean who wouldn't fall for Jack just look at his hair! Will Lucy be able to tell the family she isn't engaged to Peter (coma man) and tell Jack she loves him?

Well it's a typical Chick flick so I don't really have to tell you the ending! But it's super super cute movie!

She was in love with Tom Lefroy, despite the fact when she first met him she despised him... hmmm that sounds a little familiar... maybe perhaps Pride and Prejudice! :) They came to be very found of each other and wished to be married, but due to money on his part they could not be married. His family depended on him and she didn't want to put more pressure on him to provide for her because her family had no money as well.

Jane never did marry, and years later she met Tom once again and his young daughter.... whose name was Jane...

DAY 7: Gettysburg Address

So for day seven I was actually planning on doing Remember the Titans, but then I remembered the scene when the players are at Gettysburg. I remembered the feelings I felt when I had the opportunity to go to Gettysburg and walk through the land, the memorial, and the cemetery. The love of the land that we fought to gain Independence for and then those who sacrificed for those they loved to continue our Independence. What happened there changed America forever and Abraham Lincoln's short yet so powerful speech influenced the change that came about after the war. His words showed love for those before the Civil War, during, and generations to come.

I have a great respect for Abraham Lincoln, I believe he was an inspired man on earth during that time to lead America, and I can't wait for the day when I have the chance to meet him and talk to him and tell him of my love and gratitude for what he did for this country. I love American History, I am proud to be living in the country enjoying the rights and privileges I partake of everyday.

I'm thankful for unknown heroes who died so that we might live today the dream that was only a vision back then.

DAY 5:Letters To Juliet

This movie came out last summer and it is one of my favorites! It's super clean and super cute. There are a lot of different love stories that go on in this movie many that are interconnected.

The first story is when Sophie goes to Italy with her fiance for a vacation and it turns out he's too busy to spend time with her so she goes and does her own thing. She finds the house of Juliet where women from all over the world come to ask Juliet for help with their love problems. The Secretaries of Juliet answer each of the letters that are written and left at Juliets home. Sophie passes the time by helping them, and one day she falls upon a letter that was written fifty years ago. A girl wanted to run away with her true love but backed out because of her parents, her letter never got answered. Sophie decides to answer it, and a few days later Claire and her grandson Charlie are in Italy. Claire wants to find her true love, Lorenzo, her grandson Charlie disagrees but comes along to help, and Sophie joins them to write the story of Claire finding Lorenzo.
Will Sophie and Charlie be able to stand each other on this voyage... will they fall for eachother?

Will Sophie be able to help Claire find the man of her dreams?

Will Lorenzo be there when Claire comes for him?

This is a MUST MUST MUST see for all girls wanting a most predictable chick flick but is so cute and romantic you don't care how predictable it is!

DAY 3: Little Women

Each of the little Women have their own story to tell, and each of their stories you fall in love with over and over again.

Having an amazing mother who I look up to so much and being super close to my five sisters (including my sister-law Cori), I love the book and movie, "Little Women." Anyone can relate to each of the women in this story, the love between family, sisters, a mother's love for her daughter, romance, friendship, and so much more.

My mother has told me that she can't even remember how many times she has read this book. I've read it once, but I think I need to read it again, I've watched the movie thousands of times! The friendship that these sisters have is funny, playful, tearful, loving, and a bond that shows that the Bond between Sisters is deeper than any kind of friendship!

You can't help but fall in love with the girl's best friend Laurie. His charm and goodness to the girls just sweeps you off your feet and you want your own personal Laurie!

Then you fall in love with Jo's man, Professor Baer, and you won't to move to New York to find your own Professor Baer, with a lovely German accent!!

This story has been wrapped around the hearts of both young and old women around the world. I think that it defines the true love between family, sisters and friends that will last forever! I'm so thankful for the bonds and friendships I have with my mother and sisters!

Day 2: Queen Victoria and Albert

I would hope that many of you who love Romance Stories have seen the charming and wonderful movie, "The Young Victoria." The movie portrays the courtship and marriage of Queen Victoria and Albert, their love for eachother, her devotion to her country, and his devotion to her standing by her side every step of the way until his death.

Victoria's marriage was pre-arranged, but yet she fell head over heals for the man who was picked out in advance for her. Prince Albert of Germany, swept Victoria off her feet, as she had an instantaneous attraction to Albert, whom she described as "extremely handsome ... he has a beautiful nose and a very sweet mouth" She wrote to her uncle Leopold thanking him "for the prospect of great happiness you have contributed to give me in the person of dear Albert. "He possesses every quality that can be desired to make me perfectly happy."

The young Queen Victoria relied heavily on her husband's advice and he became a great influence in Victoria's decisions while he reigned as Queen. It was said she was most involved in political and royal duties while he was still alive, than when he was dead as though he provided that spark she needed to be the best she could be. She admired him and was completely devoted to him, and did nothing without her husband's approval.

Prince Albert became known and admired for his honesty, diligence, and his devotion to his family.

It's an absolutely wonderful story and is one that needs to be heard!

Victoria and Albert had 9 children.

Albert died and Queen Victoria ruled by herself for over 40 years, never quite the same after his passing.

While Albert was still alive they were extremely happy and so in love!

Their story talks about how a marriage should work (whether or not you are royalty)

Welcome to the month of love! Many may look at Valentines as Single Awareness Month but I've decided to take it a different direction this year. There are many forms of love, it's not only in a couple. So for the first 14 days of February I would like to choose 14 of the World's Greatest Love Stories, they'll be stories of couples, families, sacrifice, friends, fairy tales, and real life stories and anything else I can think of.

DAY 1: The Sound of Music

Is there anyone out there who isn't in love with the charming story of Maria, Captain Von Trapp, and his seven children? The story encompasses all kinds of love that dig deeper than any chick flick could. By the first 30 seconds of the movie, you have already fallen in love with Maria, a nun who's love for music makes you want to find an open field and sing at the top of your lung, "The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music!" Maria inspires all to face their fears through confidence and love towards others.

Throughout the whole movie we see the instant love that Maria has for the children and their love for her

The Captain show his love for his children once again after a hard past of loss of their mother.

Then they ultimate love story comes between the Captain and Maria. Can the Captain allow himself to love again, and will Maria open her love to him and give up the life of the nun to be with the man she loves?

This movie is the perfect family film teaching everyone that family comes first and is also forever! It is made for all ages both young and old!

This last weekend my mother, Bekah, Jeremiah, and Caleb came up to Rexburg and we went and saw VOCAL POINT!
To start off the day, we took Caleb around campus. He's really excited to come here for college, and I'm glad he wants to come here. While we walked around, my mom went and visited a former teacher from when she attended here, Sister Barrus. She tries to visit whenever she comes into town and she had a wonderful time!

Afterwards, we went bowling at Fat Cats... I almost won twice... but darn Jeremiah had to beat me by two points!! But I did break 100!! I really like bowling, and I love bowling even more when I'm with my family!

How to properly execute a CARTWHEEL!

I don't know if I announced on my blog that I made the World Collegiate Team for the Winter Semester and I'm really excited about it. We have a great group of girls coming together to dance and a wonderful director leading the way.

Well in our clogging dance, we have to do a cartwheel... in the 13 years that I have been clogging... I don't ever recall having to do a cartwheel... so this is going to be a great growing experience to finally get over my fear of doing a cartwheel... I have done them before but very very poorly.

So to help me with this I went to a website that never fails in the most random requests... Wiki.

Cartwheels are one of the basic moves in gymnastics. Practicing cartwheels will strengthen your upper body and help you in learning later tricks such as round-offs, walkovers, handsprings, and more. Firstly start off by doing a false cartwheel then progress.you need to kick your legs into the air while pushing on the floor.If you are less confident then use grass and a slight slope. It is easier to use the hand, hand, foot, foot method.

Make sure you have plenty of room (somewhere like a park or gym mat). Allow enough space to perform the move. It's also best to learn and practice on a softer surface such as a mat or a well-padded carpet.
Decide what kind of cartwheel you are going to do. There are two types of cartwheels: front to back and side-to-side. The directions here are for front to back. Front to back cartwheels are when you start facing one way and end up facing the other way. In a side-to-side cartwheel, you stay facing the same direction throughout the cartwheel. Starting forward works better because that is the way you will be starting for your back hand springs later. When doing a cartwheel make sure that you have the upper body strength to go over.
Extend your arms straight above your head. Don't bend your arms and keep your hands turned in towards your head, with your arms against your ears. Reach for the sky!
Point one foot in the direction you will be going. Turn the other foot slightly outward, for better balance.
Look down at where you are going to place your hands.
Reach with the same hand as your pointed foot. For example, if you pointed your left foot, use your left hand until it touches the floor. Your other hand should follow. While the first hand is going down, the opposite foot is coming up. Keep both hands in the same line that your feet started from, and your hands will point perpendicular to that line.
Kick powerfully so your legs come off the ground. Now you are balancing your weight on both of your arms, like a handstand, with your legs straight in the air and out in a straddle/split position. Keep your back straight. Think while you are doing it with this method - Hand, hand, foot, foot!
Look at your hands. Keep them super straight, firm and balanced. This will help keep your body in control and will aid your aim, agility and balance. Keep your trunk in a straight line from shoulders to hips. You should be turning in a position reminiscent of the spokes of a bicycle. If you're not, then try again and again until you get it.
Land on the opposite foot. Do this facing the direction you came from, front leg slightly bent. This should be the same position you started in, but with the opposite leg forward and both feet flat. If you can't do it, it's fine. Lots of people can't do it the first time. It's not the end of the world.

This is going to be a endeavor that I am determined to accomplish.... JUST YOU WAIT!!! I am going to be the best Cartwheel-er the BYU Idaho Collegiate World Team has ever seen and thousands with flock to ask me to coach them in the Art of Cart Wheeling!

Highlights of the Week!

It's been a FANTASTIC week!! I've started a new job here at school in the Activities Department as a Secretary. I have a WONDERFUL boss, I work with great people, and the Advisers are AMAZING!

I've also started school (MY THIRD YEAR!) and it's great! I have a busy schedule but I figure since it's freezing outside I might as well stay inside staying busy with school! I really like all my teachers I know I'm going to learn so much from them!

I have great roommates and a great ward! I'm happy to be here with Kjersti again for her last semester!

I'm back clogging again and it has been a huge blessing in my life to be back doing what I love with a teacher who is wonderful! And to add to dancing....
I MADE THE COLLEGIATE WORLD TEAM AGAIN!! It's going to be a fantastic team and I'm looking forward to working with the new director!

Something I'm really looking forward to tomorrow is seeing my Jacob Lake people! It's been far too long!!

Make Way For Ducklings!

I love ducks, they are one of my favorite animals! Every year the ducks seems to stay in West Jordan through December, with or without snow. I don't know if they got lost or thought this was South but every year they are hanging out in the canal by my house and I love looking at them.
On Sunday it was snowing and so I decided to go and feed them. I had no idea that when I gave them food they would chase me down to get more!

There is one lone goose there who is extremely obnoxious and bossy to them. He was in my face the whole time trying to get food!
Even though I love the ducks during the Winter.... my favorite time is Spring when the baby ducks are born! I'm looking forward to that!

Now I've never really much on following sports knowing which team is the best and who not. The sports lingo, of a incomplete pass, or first down, or whatever.... but.....

I do enjoy going to the game and actually being there. I'm not much on watching it on TV. My family got season tickets to the BYU Football games this season and they've had a lot of fun with it. I didn't go to any since I was partying... I mean working in Arizona. But I was able to go to the last home game of the season for BYU and they won.... I must be good luck!

Well once again I am working the beast but I am thankful for the money I am making. It was a little hectic this morning but I had so many nice people come in. Thank you for raising me to be comfortable around adults, I feel like I am more comfortable around adults when I'm working and I love talking to them. This morning after my first shift Mike Morgan (office guy) came and told me that a couple who was staying here had me as a waitress a few times and they said that I made their vacation ten times better. That made my day so much better! I never really thought that I would help people have a better vacation I just wanted to make them happy when they're eating. I was so happy to hear that! I love this job, I love when people ask me if I'm Mormon (especially when they ask where my horns are, or how many wives my daddy has:) ) I love telling people about good places to visit while they are at the Grand Canyon and then they come back to the Inn and they say they loved the place! I love the people who I work with, they are all so friendly and we work really good together and I'm so excited they are going to be at BYU Idaho in January. I feel extremely blessed to be here, thank you for encouraging me to come here!

So I had a wonderful time at the Grand Canyon with my work friends, there are a lot of fun people here. Our first stop was at Imperial Point and the view is so pretty. Then a group of us went on a two mile hike on the edge of Grand Canyon and it was so pretty! The hike was hard but I'm getting ready for a 25 mile hike so I had to fight my way through it. I am getting stronger and becoming more fit and it's a lot of fun preparing with my other friends here. after the hike we drove to cape royale and watched the sunset and it was so pretty. I put pictures on Facebook please do take a look! I came home so tired, once my head hit my pillow I was out the whole night. i barely woke up to my alarm this morning. thankfully i had a lot of nice people that came into the dining room and I really enjoyed my time. I had a lady that I was helping and while I was talking to some other people she put on her glasses and started to look at my hand and I couldn't figure out why and then she said I see you are wearing your CTR ring you must be mormon and I said with all my heart and she said me too! She'll be coming to church tomorrow. then I had an older couple who came in and they were extremely friendly and then they also came for dinner and I got to serve them again. I also had someone tell me they wanted to take me home because I was so helpful.

and his most recent film was Toy Story 3... playing the part of Slinky the Dog!!!

I probably would have never known it was him if the other waiters hadn't told me. But I got to be his waiter yesterday morning and it was a lot of fun!! I asked him about the movies he's done and I also got to meet his wife. He was really nice, and unfortunately I didn't get a picture because he left right after breakfast but it was fun being his waiter and talking to him!

So many people to meet

Hannah is working up at Jacob Lake Inn. She has no phone and limited internet, but having a great time. She gets to meet people from all over. She asked me to post some of her email.

"Something that is really fun to watch when I'm doing waitress is the Hunters. If they are sitting next to another Hunter they are automatically best friends and will talk forever... it kind of reminded me of Latter Day Saints... when we meet other members in different states we have that automatic thing in common and we talk to them like our brother or sister. Yesterday there were two hunters that found a deer but they met another hunter who was trying to get that deer too so they other two gave it to him... well they happened to sit by each other at the counter and the hunter who got the deer bought them dinner for giving him the deer. It was pretty cool to watch. I have no idea what they are talking about but I still enjoy serving them. I'm almost thankful that our family never got involved in hunting... I talked to some hunters and they acted like it was a religion to them. But all they really do is sit and wait for the deer to come to them and that doesn't sound appealing at all.

"Another person I met yesterday was a man from Switzerland. On July 2nd he came to New York bought a bike and has been riding the bike through America. So it took him about two months to get here. His next destination is San Fransico but he's going to spend a day or two here and then head up through Utah then to Vegas and then to California. He said his plan is to go home at the end of September. There were two families that were sitting by him and they were asking him so many questions such as how long did you train for this and he said he decided to do it about two months before he got here. and then they asked do you ride a bike often back home and he said no, but last summer he walked from Switzerland to Spain just to see if he could do it. Then they asked where do you sleep. He said back East people aren't allowed to camp on the side of the street so he had to go into a campsite but he said out west area they allow it so he just finds a place by the side of the street to sleep. One of the families that was sitting next to him bought him dinner... he had to meals. He had a huge chicken salad and then a BLT three beers and a piece of banana cream pie. He ate so much. He was really interesting to talk to. But I really enjoyed talking to him. There is a girl that is working here who is going to backpack across Europe starting in September and be gone for a year. It's something that she has wanted to do for a long time so she has finally gotten the money to do it. She is really excited to go.

A Change In The Wind!

So when I finished my semester a two weeks ago I came home with a plan.... I was going to go and get trained in Ballet and Jazz at the dance studio where my little sister dances, I was going to work at good old Macey's, play with Benjamin (nephew) and little Gracie (niece) and soon to be Abby little baby that is still cooking in the oven. I was going to go to Island Park and canoe, and I was going to attend my single's ward.... well....
The Monday after I got home my cousin David texted me about a job opening at Jacob Lake, Arizona where he works in an Inn that's near the Grand Canyon. My family was all for it, they thought it would be a great experience for me and it would be good money. I was uncertain because I had really planned on dancing all during the Fall. But I decided to call them just to see what would happen. I also prayed and fasted about it.
Well today I had an interview with one of the owners of the Inn and he gave me the job... GREAT.... I also leave Monday... Something I was not planning on at all. I thought I would be leaving in a few weeks, but Monday... WOW! So it looks like I'll be packing this weekend and getting released from my calling at church I got last Sunday and moving out Monday. I won't be back until the week before Thanksgiving....

I am really looking forward to this adventure and I am looking forward to spending time with my awesome cousin David and making a lot of new friends!

I'll be sure to keep my blog updated with my experiences!

A few of my thoughts...

Well I have officially finished two years of college at my wonderful BYU Idaho! It was a great semester, extremely busy but not dull whatsoever. I had a fun set of roommates and we had a lot of fun together. Most weekends were spent having sleepovers in the family room and taking plenty of runs to the snow cone shack. We all were busy with our own things but when we did get to spend time together we had a lot of fun! I'm thankful I was able to be with them for the last three months.

I had a wonderful FHE group. We had a lot of fun and spent of a lot of time together. They were very supportive in each others activities, they even came to my Collegiate Dance Showcase. I'm so thankful I was able to get to know each of them and become their friend.

Here was the joy of my semester. My simply marvelous Collegiate World Team! Being on this team was everything I had ever dreamed of and more. We danced so hard this semester we were so tired at the end but if asked if we wanted to keep going we would all jump up and do it all over again! I'm really going to miss each of them!

Something that really challenged me each week was Master Clogging at Brother Larsen's studio. Every Wednesday a group of cloggers from the University would go to his studio and he would teach us the craziest steps I had ever seen in my life!!! At the end of every night I came out of that class in a daze because I had learned so much. I was able to do everything he taught after hours of practice but I got them nonetheless. I also broke two clogging taps this semester from all the clogging I did. I'm going to have to invest in some new shoes cause mine are all torn up.

It was a great semester and I'm looking forward to going back but for now I am going to enjoy the time I have with my family.

I have a lot of decisions to make here in the next couple weeks, I know that Heavenly Father is going to put me where I need to be and I trust that he will be there right by my side in helping me make me decisions.

2. Finish Packing- I'm taking the shuttle home this semester and so I'm trying to squeeze everything into a few boxes as possible.
3. Practice for dance finals
4. Study for science final
5. Go to last performance
6. GO HOME!

I love that I am able to choose where I go in my education and that I can choose who I want to be. I am looking forward to the day when I get to thank all those who sacrificed for this country and meet the ones who were inspired to bring this country together!

Collegiate Showcase!!!

This week I was busy preparing with my wonderful Collegiate World Team for our big performance on Saturday! It was tiring but I had a blast!! Tuesday we went to dinner as a team to the one and only Craigo's and then had a late night rehearsal with the Light Crew! It was fun dancing with the Stage lights, it makes it so much more enjoyable!

Friday night we had a dress rehearsal and it was great and afterward we went to Whitney's and ate pizza, skittles and played What If our favorite game to play together!
